Sunday, May 22, 2022 –Businessman-turned-politician Jimi Wanjigi has vowed to partner to the end with a Luo running mate as a simple of unity for the country.
Wanjigi said it is only through a Kikuyu-Luo political partnership that the country could be able get to realize its full potential in terms of peace and progress.
The two communities, according to the tycoon, have been part of the difficulties and success that the country has gone through; and therefore their unity cannot be overemphasized.
The Safina Party leader was speaking this at St. Johns Church in Siaya County where he also presented lawyer Willis Otieno as his preferred running mate in the August 9 polls.
“Historically, when the people of Nyanza partner with Mount Kenya, good things have come. We gained independence, the second liberation, and a great new constitution, but the promise of that constitution has not been lived,” he noted.
He also went ahead to divulge further that he had to pick on a Luo because he believes in their ability to bring peace just like it has been before in previous elections where Jaramogi Oginga Odinga partnered with Mzee Jomo Kenyatta same to how Raila Odinga and Mwai Kibaki and now Uhuru-Raila are working together.
“That is why we are saying that this is the time. The time for a new generation of which Willis is part and parcel of – 80 per cent of this nation is below the age of 40, and that generation can no longer be kept out of national leadership,” he added.
Wanjigi recently left Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party following his bitter fallout with Mr. Odinga whom he accused of betrayal following his(Raila’s) move to go into a Handshake with Kenyatta without consulting other members within ODM Party.
