Tuesday, February 22, 2022 –Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has asked Directorate of Criminal Investigations to return the firearms they confiscated from his house in 2017.
In a bare knuckle press briefing he held today is his Nairobi offices, the billionaire, noted with concerns that whatever was happening to him was pure politics now that ODM Delegates meeting is nigh.
He instead blamed the DCI for violating court orders which had asked him(DCI) to hand over weapons which they confiscated from him years back.
“The DCI ordered me to surrender non-existent guns and 480 bullets. They have been violating my fundamental rights and freedom. I will neither surrender to this abuse of law enforcement agencies for political purposes,” Wanjigi said.
He observed that since courts asked George Kinoti to obey orders and hand over all weapons taken from him, the DCI boss had decided to harbor complete ulterior motive to thwart the lergal verdict.
“The High Court granted orders that the firearms be returned to my house but that never happened. Today, he (DCI Kinoti) has the audacity to ask me to return the same firearms.
“In 2017, the same Kinoti took three vehicles from my home in Malindi, and for five years, the high-end vehicles have been rotting in the police custody. He also tried to issue charges against me and my father,” Wanjigi addressed.
List of the weaponry the city mogul has since been given a 72-hour ultimatum to surrender include two Ceska pistols, a shotgun, Glock 19, three Glock pistols, and a rifle.
The businessman has also urged both President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to respect his democratic space.
