Tuesday, July 12, 2023 –Businessman Jimi Wanjingi has thrown his weight behind Raila Odinga’s opposition demonstrations against the high cost of living.

Addressing this on live interview on Wednesday July 12 noon just after having a session on Spice FM, Wanjigi said every Kenyan is currently pressed with high cost of living and going to the streets has become their only solution.

He added that demonstrations, as long as they are peaceful, are allowed in the Constitution of Kenya which is alive todate.

Maandamano is a right in the Constitution and I support it any day. We all live here and whether personal expenses or that of the people who work for us, have gone up since they come asking for increase in salaries every time,” he claimed.

Asked what he is doing on the debt issue in the country, Wanjigi noted that the issue with Kenyan debt burden has been mismanaged for long and he is going to court through civil societies and lawyers to file a case to look into the debt this country owes anyone.

“Half of the $2 billion Eurobond taken in 2014 never even came to Kenya. Yet this year we are supposed to pay back that money.

“In 2014 we took 2-billion-dollar Euro bond from abroad and we have invested in that bond so extensively and the result could be mind boggling,” he claimed.

The tycoon also added that, though he is a friend to the current head of State, the time he expected that he(Ruto) would talk to him is over and it is time to face off with each other both in court and on the streets.

Now, Wanjigi joins both the Auditor General office as well as Activist Okiya Omtatah in denouncing the debt budden for this country.
