Monday, December 13, 2021 –Embattled ex-Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has urged Mt Kenya residents to support someone else from other parts of the country.

According to Mr. Waititu, Mt Kenya region has suffered a lot in the name of producing presidents every season what he has said must be brought to a stop from 2022.

He added that Kikuyus have not benefited from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, and that is why they were now ready to support a person from another community to take over from him when he retires.

He went on to accuse Mr. Kenyatta of shortchanging their region immediately after ascending to office. He also blamed the president of fighting local leaders who campaigned for him to get to power in both 2013 and 2017.

“We don’t want to hear anybody telling us to elect a Kikuyu president or join a political party for Kikuyus. We have really suffered when one of us is the president,” Waititu said.

Speaking on Saturday December 13 during the burial of popular city preacher Bishop Godfrey Migwi in Mathioya Constituency, Waititu further blamed Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration of frustrating small scale traders of Kikuyu origin operating from Gikomba and Muthurwa.

“Our people in Nyamakima, Gikomba and Kamukunji have become poor after their businesses collapsed under Uhuru’s watch. Some of us who helped him become President have been removed from office for speaking the truth,” he said.
