Tuesday, December 20, 2022 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua fired warning shots at Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, for allegedly targeting members of the Kikuyu community in a city crackdown.

He cautioned the city governor against interfering with residents’ operations in Nairobi since this could backfire in 2027 when next elections will be held.

He also reminded Sakaja that, in Nakuru, voters had to do away with Lee Kinyanjui for Susan Kihika due to the same mistakes.

“I have told the governor that I will sit down with him because we are the ones who elected him. I am the one who asked Central Kenya people in Nairobi to vote for him and they did it,” he stated.

He affirmed his commitment of advising Sakaja to reduce speed while making decisions that may harm a majority of those living in the city and the entire Central region.

“Anything that he decides on that may affect your business in Nairobi. We must first talk and agree. There is no hurry. The issue of ejecting matatus from Nairobi will not happen,” he added.

He said the Nairobi County boss was a good person who must agree to listen to advises especially from other leaders and the business community.

Gachagua urged the governor to also seek advice from his counterpart Susan Kihika of Nakuru County who is now in good books with locals.

The DP was speaking this in reaction to drastic measures the county boss was implementing to rid the town from congestion and crime.

Governor Sakaja released a Notice on November 28 instructing PSV operations to be relocated to the newly-built Green Park Terminus.
