Monday, July 24, 2023 -Legend Collins Injera has landed a multimillion role at the Senate’s Parliamentary Service Commission PSC where he will be working in the capacity of Administrative Officer, Liaison office.
The popular Rugby legend, who retired this year in January, shortly worked at Avanti Communications as their Public Relations Officer around East Africa.
He was hired by the company because he holds a Degree in PR, Advertising and Applied Communication from Daystar University.
His joining of government not coming as a great surprise since he has impeccable qualification and experience in the field he has been hired for.
The former national team Shujaa star, now 37 years, is among the richest sportsmen in Kenya. Besides, Injera has made a name for himself on the international stage as one of the greatest to ever play the sport.
In 2021, Injera was reported to be worth around $1.5 million (sh162 million). But celebrity website All Famous Birthdays puts his net worth as at 2023 even higher at $5 million (sh 670 million at current dollar rate).

Now 40 years and with his wealth trending towards sh 1 billion mark, the talented star is one of the most successful young men in Kenya and his quest to break records even off the field appears unstoppable. His earnings have also been boosted by product endorsements for corporates and promotions through his social media accounts.
His great performance in rugby led him him to be decorated with the Order of the Golden Warrior alongside his brother Kayange in 2010. On 18th April, Injera was appointed as the defense and attack coach for his former club, Mwamba RFC.
With these new appointments, Injera’s wealth is expected to soar as these positions expose him to more income and connections to cut deals. Also, being a rugby legend, he is expected to continue signing up lucrative endorsement deals which will increase his net worth.
Injera, always calm and composed, started playing rugby at Vihiga High School in Vihiga county. After an early stint at Ulinzi RFC, he joined Mwamba RFC where his club career flourished. He made his debut for Kenya Sevens at the 2006 Dubai Sevens. He was the top try-scorer of the 2008/09 IRB Rugby Sevens series. He has also played for Kenya’s 15s rugby team.
For his incredible achievements, Injera was inducted into the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame earlier in January – the latest in his long list of accolades. Injera is among the leading trialist in the history of world rugby and has won several accolades in the process.
Collins Injera was born on 18th October, 1986 in Nairobi. After graduating from college in 2005, Injera joined military team Ulinzi RFC playing in the Kenya Cup league. Ulinzi RFC was eventually relegated and he was transferred to Mwamba RFC, a Nairobi-based team.
