Friday, October 27, 2023 –Embattled Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has warned National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula against running down nation’s democracy.
Speaking yesterday Thursday October 26 in their Jubilee National Executive Committee NEC meeting that Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta also addressed through a phone call, the Jubilee Party led by both Kioni and Vice Chairman David Murathe, took on Wetang’ula for his poor leadership of activities in the Parliament.
Uhuru, through the phone call, directed the new deputy minority whip in the National Assembly Mr. Mark Mwenje to mobilize Azimio MPs in Parliament to start removing at least 21 Jubilee MPs from various positions in the House so that loyalties can be brought on board.
Addressing in the NEC meeting, Sec. Gen. Kioni fired shots at Speaker Wetang’ula saying, if he doesn’t change the way he is running the House business, he will go down as the worst Speaker this country has ever had since independence.
He wondered why the speaker, despite obvious legal indicators, was still recognizing Jubilee as a political Party in Parliament. The shots came from both sides of ODM and Jubilee leaders.
“Papa wa Roma is going to go down as the worst House speaker since this country gained independence in 1963.
“The man is busy auctioning multiparty democracy in this country and we are watching keenly,” Kioni stated.
Mr. Kioni also added that the Kenya Kwanza government had given jobs to some of its(Jubilee) members to bring down the party from within.
On his part, Vice Chair David Murathe who was present in the Thursday October 26 meeting, ordered that their next agenda is to clean the party from any traces of Kenya Kwanza sympathizers.
“Once we are properly in office by the court, the first agenda business will be to denominate Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega. Kega’s position at EALA was from Jubilee,” Jubilee’s Murathe noted.
This back and forth between the Kega and Kioni sides coming just days after Azimio succeeded in ejecting Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege as the deputy minority whip in the National Assembly and, in her place, immediately taken over by Mark Mwenje of Jubilee Party.
Mr. Kioni seized the opportunity to maintain that Jubilee is still intact in Azimio coalition while the Kega faction wants to disassociate with the opposition coalition for the ruling alliance.
