Sunday, September 10, 2023 –National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has praised the ongoing national dialogue between the opposition and government.
Speaking from Vihiga in Western Region during the burial service of Mr. Lawrence Itolondo Mulama on Saturday September 9, Wetangula praised President William Ruto and the opposition leader Raila Odinga for putting aside their political differences for the sake of their country’s peaceful co-existence.
“I praise the recent government-opposition cooperation, emphasizing the importance of checks and balances for our country’s progress. Notably, I advocated for President William Ruto’s dialogue with opposition leaders in Parliament,” he stated.
The former Bungoma County Senator implored all lawmakers to stop public altercations among themselves and forge ahead in search of unity and development of their areas.
“I implore Members of Parliament and other leaders to cease their public disputes, recognizing the corrosive impact of discord on the growth and prosperity of our region and the nation at large,” he also stated.
The Speaker added that their aim in the ongoing bipartisan task was to unite the country and to make sure leaders combine their efforts to serve the country in unison.
“Our aim in these bipartisan talks is to create a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation for the betterment of all Kenyans,” Wetang’ula noted further.
The Ford-Kenya Party leader also seized the opportunity to thank President William Ruto for his week-long tour around Western Region where several development projects were launched.
The speaker further issued a strong call to action to all grassroots leaders, encouraging them to actively participate in advancing the progress of their Western region.
Commenting on the same, Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party confirmed that the two leaders met in Vihiga and socially shared some light moments together.
