Thursday, August 12, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has slammed Deputy President William Ruto for preaching poverty around the country.
Today the opposition honcho flew to Kiambu County where he held a meeting with Kiambu tycoons at Limuru in the farm belonging to James Anthony Kariuki Nginyo who is the son to legendary Lawrence Kariuki Nginyo – a renowned entrepreneur as well as a politician. Lawrence Nginyo however died last year leaving behind a family estate worth sh 4 Billion.
Raila used the opportunity to poke holes into the Hustler narrative as preached by Deputy President William Ruto saying there is no way a youth would depend on the wheelbarrow for a living. He cautioned the Kikuyus against allowing such characters to spoil their hardworking and schooled generation.
“We have a big agenda than mkokoteni(handcarts) and wheelbarrows. Don’t be cheated by such people who come here to preach poverty for your sons and daughters,” Raila addressed.
Odinga was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Aggrey Orengo, his brother Oburu Oginga among a few other lieutenants. Also in the meeting was former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth who is being touted as the best person to be Odinga’s running mate.
