What Un-apologetic Sakaja Said After Turning up Late for Debate

Monday, July 11, 2022 –Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has been blamed for turning up late in their Nairobi gubenetorial debate held on the night of Monday July 11.

The Senator who kept everyone waiting for long would later appear in the middle of the debate but still looked ‘arrogant’.

Citizen Tv’s Wahiga Mwaura who was moderating the show sought to know why the Nairobi lawmaker came in late but was shocked when the answer he got was not somewhere close two what was expected from Mr. Sakaja.

A visibly un-remorseful Sakaja could be seen justifying his lateness by describing it as ‘deliberate and tactical’.

“Why did you come late Mr. Sakaja,” Mwaura sought to know.

“I wanted to give my friend Polycarp Igathe time to be first to speak. He is used to being put first,” Sakaja responded instead of tendering an apology.

And reacting to the same, panelist Philip Kisia observed that it was an arrogant response from Sakaja owing to the fact that he had kept millions of Nairobi residents and the entire country waiting for him.

“Sakaja showed arrogance and he is my friend I will still tell him this out there.

“I am afraid we had poor leadership in Nairobi but we might end up with arrogant leaders this time around,” Kisia predicted.

Several other panelists, while giving their post-debate remarks, also blamed the UDA Party candidate for not being disrespectful to the country.

On his part, corporate guru and Azimio gubernatorial candidate, Igathe, was heard joking that his competitor arrived late due to traffic challenges bedeviling the city; but promised that this will soon be fixed.

Sakaja and Igathe will have to meet again before the final elections slated August 9.
