Saturday, November 27, 2021 –Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has exposed Deputy President William Ruto over the controversial Lang’ata Road Primary School land.
Appearing in an interview with a local paper on Saturday November 27, Governor Ngilu said DP Ruto could not allow her to say something else contrary to what he wanted over the Lang’ata land.
Though she was the Lands cabinet secretary by that time, she had to lie low because of Ruto who was breathing fire within government to protect his irregularly acquired properties.
In her interview, the first time governor disclosed how Ruto went ahead to use police force to teargas innocent pupils of the primary school so that to neutralize the protests.
“If you have the heart of a leader, would you, when getting some place to get your hotel visitors’ parking lot, teargas primary school children?” posed Ngilu in the interview.
She also claimed that it was difficult for her to go against what the DP wanted owing to the fact that during the Jubilee government first term, Ruto’s word was as good as law.
“You know, sometimes when you are in government, you must protect it,” she stated.
Lang’ata Road Primary School pupils made headlines in January 2015 when they poured on the streets protesting on the land which was claimed to have been grabbed by a developer. The property was their playground where a wall had been irregularly erected by someone who was not known.
Joined by activists, the pupils gained courage and started pushing the wall down what saw police swing into action with teargas. This left most of them with health injuries caused by endless chocking. Some sustained physical injuries while scampering for their safety.
When it reached a point for the government to name who owns the land, Ms Ngilu went ahead to mention nonexistent names to protect Ruto’s interests.
Among the names she pointed fingers at are directors of Airport View Housing Company Limited, Mandip Singh Amrit, Madat Singh Amrit, Harban Singh Amrit and Kamal Singh Amrit.
She would also announce that investigations would be on to punish anyone found culpable, what she has now revealed were sideshows which she was forced to display to save Ruto’s face.
And when she left office in 2015 over fraud cases that were linked to her, she immediately turned against Ruto with whom they still cannot see eye to eye.
