Why I Took Sonko to Mombasa – Kalonzo

Friday, May 6, 2022 – Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says he had to scout for Mike Sonko because he was almost headed to Kenya Kwanza.

Addressing today Friday May 6 in Mombasa County during their popularization tour, the Wiper leader clarified that the candidature of Sonko was not meant, in any way, to interfere with ODM politics in Mombasa. He argued that if anything, the entry of Sonko was a plus for their Azimio wing because the ex-city boss has a huge following upto Mombasa.

Kalonzo added that Azimio-One Kenya coalition should be happy that Sonko joined them instead of going to the DP William Ruto’s side which was already salivating for him.

“Wengine wanasemna ati Kalonzo alileta Sonko Mombasa kufanya nini. Sasa wacha niulize, ningeacha Sonko aende kwa wheelbarrow?” Kalonzo posed saying the former Nairobi boss would easily counter those calling themselves Hustlers.

He then said the entry of Sonko had send shivers down spines of many Kenya Kwanza-allied politicians who know what the former governor can do in politics.

On his part, Sonko noted that Raila Odinga was headed for a landslide win because of his track record in the country.

He, nonetheless, took issue with those surrounding him and who are blocking him from picking on Kalonzo Musyoka as his preferred running mate.
