Why Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna Wants Parliament Dissolved

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has urged President William Ruto to dissolve the Parliament if every decision on the division of Revenue is taken to the Statehouse in total disregard of the law.

In his submission today during the committee session, Mr. Sifuna took issue with colleagues who had talked about Statehouse involvement in matters division of revenue.

“We should dissolve Parliament if all parliamentary decisions are going to be made at the Statehouse

“This is unacceptable for me as person who understands our Constitution”.

Mr. Sifuna blamed fellow members of Parliament for attempting to cede power vested to them by the Constitution to the Statehouse.

He added that the current Cabinet Secretary CS for Treasury John Mbadi is wrong making sole decisions on allocating only sh 380 billion to counties.

Sifuna threatened to walk out of the committee today saying, if Mbadi continued ignoring Parliamentary input in maters revenue allocation, then there is no reason discussing it.

The ODM Party secretary general added that sh 380B allocation to devolved units is not enough for all the 47 counties of Kenya.
