Monday, March 27, 2023 –Lawyers Otiende Amollo and his counterpart, James Orengo, today wore judiciary attires while accompanying Raila Odinga for anti-State demonstrations.
It was not very clear why the two legal minds decided to don the court room dress code with a larger section of Kenyans confused over their move.
But hours later, the former State Ombudsman explained that they had to show up in complete advocate attires so that to make the State know that they understand what law says about picketing.
“And So, It Came to Pass…, Donned as An Advocate, To Patiently & Peacefully Explain To The Police The Meaning & Intent Of Article 37 Of The Constitution,” Amollo noted.
Yesterday Sunday March 26 afternoon, the lawyer was at loggerheads with the Inspector General of Police IG Japhet Koome who had warned them of consequences should anybody be found on the streets.
IG Koome told the Azimio supporters country wide that he will be arresting anybody found holding demonstrations.
But Lawyer Amollo, quickly responded back seeking to know which Clause in the Constitution was guiding IG’s threats.
“Someone take to IG Koome a copy of the Constitution, and remind him of Articles 37 & 244(C),” the lawyer posed.
He had also called out the William Ruto’s government for withdrawing their security ahead of the Monday March 27 demos.
On the other hand, Lawyer James Orengo promised not rest until Kenya is fully free from Kenya Kwanza oppression.
