Thursday, April 7, 2022 –A section of Azimio la Umoja affiliate parties christened Mwanzo Mpya have cried foul over lack of transparency in the management of their coalition affairs.
In a hard-hitting statement released on Wednesday April 7, the team led by Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua and his Makueni County counterpart Kivutha Kibwana noted that, upto today, they have never been presented with a final agreement document despite having signed the last page afew weeks ago.
The caucus also claimed that in the Azimio formation, only three main parties seem to be recognized and not the rest and it is due to that reason that they now want to be furnished with all the coalition details within 24 hours or walk away.
“Coalitions agreement documents have not been shown to us and yet they are insisting that we should sign. We will not agree to this.
“Our candidates have already registered their candidature with our parties and they have an equal right to be in the ballot,” partly read their statement.
They also claimed that there is an attempt to run nominations through zoning process what is not the correct way of doing things unless consulted.
“We also have our own caucus. The Mwanzo Mpya caucus, which is the fourth leg of the Azimio stool.
“There are currently no provisions for us to be on the elections board. We insist to be also included and to have a voice since we represent a significant voting bloc,” the statement went on.
Among the parties which now want things corrected as fast as possible include MCC, Muungano, Kenya Reform Party, CCU, DAP-K, PPT, NARC and Maendeleo Democratic Party.
