Tuesday, September 13, 2022 –Dr. William Ruto has fully taken an oath of office as the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya, from today.
He was sworn into office today September 13 at a jam-packed Moi Sports Center Kasarani in an event also attended by Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni alongside Samia Suluhu of Tanzania.
The event also attended by richest man in Africa Aliko Dangote was presided over by Judiciary registrar, Anne Amadi, in full witness by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
This was happening as his(Ruto) wife Rachel Ruto remained standing by his side just like it happened both in 2013 and 2017 when Ruto was taking oath as Uhuru Kenyatta’s deputy.
Before the swearing in took place, registrar Amadi welcomed her boss, Martha Koome, who first had to confirm that William Ruto was validly elected.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, in full realisation of the high calling I assume as President of the Republic of Kenya, do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto swore.
He also went on to promise the world that he will serve the country equally as the Constitution of the country envisages.
“I will obey, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Kenya as by law established and all other laws of the Republic; and that I will protect and uphold the sovereignty, integrity and dignity of the people of Kenya. So help me God,” he uttered while holding the Bible in his hand.
He would then append his signature before the current Attorney General Kihara Kariuki who also signed the official certificate of inauguration.
And therefore from today, Dr. Ruto takes full charge of the country from his boss Uhuru Kenyatta who had served his full Constitutional timeline.
The new president will, among other things, start issuing presidential orders to fit in his loyalists like Musalia Mudavadi who is expected to be the new Chief Minister in their Kenya Kwanza government.
Ruto is also expected to urgently address the cost of living in the country; this being key promises he made during his charged-up campaigns around the country.
