Sunday, November 20, 2022 –A guard who picked a bag full of money sh 2.4 million at Wilson Airport has landed a full scholarship with an international university.

Ann Wanjiku Waigwa was honoured with the rare scholarship by International Leadership University ILU following her good gesture on honesty after she handed the bag back to the owner.

This scholarship announcement was made during school’s graduation ceremony held last week in which the university explained that the administration officer will further her studies for her future career plans.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Tim Kiruhi stated that the scholarship was in honour of women in uniform who for many years have never been trusted for one reason or the other.

“This year we have recognized a policewoman because in the image of many Kenyans police are not to be trusted, they are not people of integrity but there are some who are and we want to encourage those people to be taken persevere,” VC Kiruhi stated.

This scholarship will also help serve as an example to other officers who, perhaps, could have been tempted to run away with the cash.

“She, therefore, receives an award that is exemplary, an award that is going to be transformative, an award that leaves her with a lot of joy in her heart as opposed to the blame that she would have in her own self,” the school reiterated.

The security guard based at Wilson Airport on Lang’ata Road in Nairobi won the hearts of many people recently when she returned a tourist’s suitcase containing over sh 2 million.

The foreigner together with others had left their bag at the airport’s arrival section when Ann and two colleagues found it and kept it at their office before calling the owners to come back and pick.

More than 50 students went through the graduation stage at the institution in which they were urged to embrace morals as they leave for job opportunities elsewhere.
