Win for Morara as his Case With Ruto is Thrown out

Friday, October 4, 20214 –A case facing political activist Kebaso Morara has been dismissed and his bail fee re-imbursed.

His lawyers led by Pareno Solanka confirmed that their client, Mr. Morara, had be freed and his bail cost will be returned in full as per the orders acquired today.

“Morara has been released, bail to be returned to him,” the lawyer revealed.

The Nairobi activist known for exposing failed public projects across the country, was on Tuesday charged in court after making a series of posts on the sitting head of State and his government.

He was picked up by police officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI before he was presented to the court, days later.

The youthful activists was charged with cyber harassment under Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No 5 of 2018.

He was accused of posting false information on his X account on 28 September, with the intent of tarnishing businessman DL Langat and President William Ruto’s reputation.

In the posts, he alleged that President Ruto had approached Lang’at for financial assistance during his campaign, leading Langat to seek lump sum amounts of money using his properties as collateral.

“William Ruto approached DL Lang’at and told him he desperately needed more money for the campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend,” one of the controversial post read.

A day later, masked police officers raided his Kahawa Sukari offices and bundled him in their car before speeding off.

He would later be brought before the Milimani Law Courts where he was released on a sh 50,000 bail, which the court has directed be refunded.

And today Friday October 4, the activist who was attending to the scheduled public participation on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was hurt following a scuffle and chaos that ensued from hired goons.

He would later announce that he was nursing injuries he had sustained in the melee.
