Monday, May 23, 2022 –Wiper Party officials have today prevailed upon their party boss Kalonzo Musyoka to reconsider his verdict to run for presidency.
After holding a delegates meeting today at Stoni Athi in Machakos on May 23, the team issued a statement with regard to the ongoing stalemate in Azimio coalition following Kalonzo Musyoka’s position to withdraw from the coalition.
They urged him (Musyoka) to try first to exhaust all the available dispute resolution mechanisms before going to the ballot.
They also clarified that the interests of the country comes first than any other and therefore a need for Kalonzo and other top affiliate party leaders in Azimio-OKA alliance to sit and talk on the matter.
“There is a dispute resolution mechanism under that alliance, so we are asking our party leader that we do consider the possibility of having further discussions on this coalition arrangement,” Organizing Secretary Robert Mbui said.
The meeting, according to impeccable sources, saw atleast 500 party aspirants attend, among them Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior who has been against Musyoka’s stay in Azimio.
They were holding the meeting even as Mr. Musyoka is reported to be out of the country in the United Kingdom for private business.
When he returns in the country, he will be delivering his final verdict of the way forward now that his party, today, delivered papers and signatures to the electoral body IEBC in readiness for the general election scheduled August 9.
