Witnesses Shock With Details on How Kangethe Effortlessly Left Muthaiga Station

Friday, February 9, 2024 –Eye witnesses around the Muthaiga Police Station in Nairobi now say they saw Kevin Kangethe running barefooted as two police officers followed him from behind.

A sweets vendor at the gate, has told detectives that he saw a man run slowly infront and two police officers following him. One police in uniform and the other one was in complete civilian.

The sweet vendor revealed to the detectives that Kangethe left Muthaiga Police Station effortlessly and had no hurry. He was also not handcuffed at the time of leaving.

On arriving at the gate, the suspect was easily picked up by a car which was behind him as he struggled to ran towards the National Youth Service NYS barracks.

“We didn’t take it seriously so no one raised any alarm,” the sweet vendor shared his side of the story with the DCI and the media.

Another witness stated that he saw two men pursuing the suspect; one in police uniform while the other in civilian attire. After a while, he noticed that the duo both turned back to the station.

He however, wondered why the police could not ask them to arrest the suspect because he was no armed and was running slowly.

“They should have told us to apprehend him because he wasn’t running that fast

“In fact, we thought that they were just joking with him. This place is full of people, including roadside vendors, matatu drivers, conductors and the public. We would have arrested him had they told us to,” the witness explained.

Also, the witness noted that the police did not try to shoot in the air to scare Kangethe from running away from them despite the law allowing this to happen on suspects.

Now, detectives are busy with the search and are narrowing down to Nairobi Metropolis area in search of Kelvin Kangethe who ran away from the United States of America U.S.A and, days ago, escaped from the Kenyan police cells.

Reports reaching the media, have indicated that a special multi-agency team is working day in day out to arrest the fugitive who remains the main suspect in the murder of the Kenyan nurse, Margaret Mbitu, at a United States airport in November last year.
