Sunday, April 14, 2024 –A woman in Bungoma has been arrested following claims of child trafficking.
The 51-year-old mother was nabbed by police officers in Bungoma on Friday April 12 after she was suspected of selling children.
The police confirmed that the suspect who hails from the neighbouring Kakamega County, was found in possession of a kid aged five years who belong to another mother.
Bungoma County Police Commander Francis Kooli, reported that the woman intended to sell the child for sh15 million.
And to get more missing cases, the area police have commenced a thorough investigation to ascertain the level of child trafficking ring around Western Region.
In Eldoret Uasin Gishu County, over thirty-two children were recently reported missing over similar cases of child trade.
The Bungoma suspect is currently being held at the Bungoma Police Station with police preparing charges so that top present her in court on Monday April 15 morning.
