Monday, October 12, 2021 –An elderly Kikuyu mother was left amazed after she spoke to Deputy President William Ruto without knowing he was the one.
It started when a man who had paid a visit to Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen office linked her creditor to the DP through a phone link and the two spoke for about five minutes.
The DP’s visitor identified as Michael Kamau passed the phone to the DP and the conversation went on smoothly with the DP promising to pay the woman through a Paybill Number.
The conversation was centered around getting Michael back to his dairy business by giving him some loan. The DP went on to promise to foot the debt on behalf of Michel and that’s how the her Pay bill number was requested.
Keeping confident and cool, the DP engaged the mother for some minutes in a natural way that no one on the other end could suspect.
“Michael is my friend and he has told me he is your customer… he has also informed me that he has been struggling and so I will give him a loan to handle his dairy business. So you will give me the till number and I will send you the money,” the DP said in their conversation.
The lady, while trying to assure Ruto that she is a seasoned businessman, even joked that she had worked for many years before him(Ruto) was born; in a way that left Ruto amused.
“I buy materials from millers, they have everything. I have done this work for 29 years and I believe you were not born when I was starting out, I am probably your mother’s age,” she stated.
And when the woman asked who she was speaking to, Ruto simply told her William and that’s when she sought to know if that was DP Ruto.
This is not the first time the DP was displaying his generosity in public, many times when he is on his campaign trails around the country, Ruto would make unexpected stopovers to engage the low class in the society and sometime share a meal with them.
