Wednesday, January 11, 2023 –President William Ruto has slowly started edging out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from government.
Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Tuesday January 10 slammed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his current running of affairs in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Making this speech in a press briefing in Nyahururu Town, Kioni went bare-knuckle against the DP claiming he was sabotaging the administration of President William Ruto with what he termed as ‘loose tongue and verbal diarrhoea’.
“He (Gachagua) has been used, his mouth is the weapon to eat others. As you go down, leave the Kikuyu community alone, don’t go down with it.” Kioni said.
He predicted a quick fallout between the two, attributing this to the recent reorganization of State functions saying this was a clear plot to do away with number two, Gachagua.
“As for Gachagua, the die is cast, and William is done with you, if he had any respect for you, he would not be moving you from one office to another, he would not be using you as the cannon because your mouth has a loose cannon,” Kioni claimed.
He added that the only remaining task for Gachagua is to be used to make incessant attacks at Raila and other opposition politicians.
“Gachagua has said he will go for the so-called cartels, people who served the Jubilee government. That vindictive approach is the perpetuation of a political agenda. If it is a real criminal thing, then they should allow the institutions set in the Constitution to perform their work,” Kioni argued.
This remark follows Ruto’s recent move to issue fresh orders that gave Chief Minister Musalia Mudavadi sweeping powers to manage part of the executive wing.
The reorganization saw Ruto direct Mudavadi to chair part of the Cabinet as well as report directly to the head of State; apart from working with Gachagua.
Furthermore, the Prime CS will oversee the Public Service Performance Management Unit and the government delivery services.
Mudavadi will also work with the Prof. Kithure Kindiki-led ministry to supervise ministries and state departments, and coordinate the government legislative agenda with the House leaders in close consultation with the Principal Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs, Aurelia Rono.
