Police have managed to nab a total of sixteen suspect’s believed to be involved in Eastern Mau clashes in Nakuru County.
Rift Valley Regional Coordinator George Natembeya has confirmed the effects of the ethnic clashes resulting from land issues.
Citizen Digital further reported that the clashes have left 10 villages affected and authorities have promised to mediate for peace accord among the factions. The talks will commence of Monday August 3rd.
The ugly scenes have occurred a day after Nakuru County Government led by Governor Lee Kinyanjui banned people from walking free past 6 in the evening. The curfew extend upto 7am next morning.
“All residents are advised to abide by the laws of the country. Anybody found in breach will face prosecution,” Governor Kinyanjui said.
Locals have also been warned from carrying killer weapons like bows, arrows and machetes in the guise of protecting themselves saying police are enough to maintain law and order in the area.
According to Mr. Natembeya, local administration, politicians and key local leaders are among those arrested for fueling the clashes.
