Sunday, June 20, 2021 -City political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has explained how President Uhuru Kenyatta could easily make Raila Odinga President without elections.
Making this remark on Saturday June 19 through his social media platforms, Mr. Ngunyi opined that there are many ways of killing a rat and this could be exploited in afew days to come. He discussed how BBI and Raila Odinga can pass the test of the day through other avenues without breaking the law.
In the weekly review video column seen by Homenews.co.ke, Mr. Ngunyi paraded a grand gameplan which Uhuru and Raila could apply and remain in power past 2022.
Firstly, he suggested that Uhuru can decide to do away with all the rebel Jubilee MPs and Senators who have been busy siding with Ruto’s 2022 succession plans. Further, Uhuru could as well decide to impeach his deputy on the grounds of popularizing his UDA politics when he is still in the ruling party Jubilee.
“The law requires you to impeach Ruto for gross misconduct and unconstitutional behaviour. The law also requires you to throw out all Jubilee MPs supporting UDA,” he added.
And from the same numbers used to remove Ruto, this could be used to pass a majority of proposals in the BBI Draft Bill and bring on board Raila as Deputy President who might serve for a short period. During thsi periodUhuru could decide to quit power paving away for the automatic Odinga rule who can now pick a deputy from Mt. Kenya and extend this past 2022.
The other option would be to dissolve Parliament as was advised by Maraga in 2020 which is also within the law.
“If the courts rule that Parliament can be dissolved without affecting other seats, we can have parliamentary elections in July 2022, extending the terms of the President, the MCAs, and Governors. Also extended will be the term of the new Deputy President who will serve for five years,” the professor argued.
Ngunyi’s sentiments if taken serious, could change the current political dynamics which many didn’t expect. DP William Ruto may also be forced to run to Courts for stop orders which he could secure some and some not.
