Saturday, April 24, 2021 -Rappers today thronged DP William Ruto’s Karen home for talks about the future of the country following a recent request made by Rapper Khaligraph Jones born Brian Ouko.
Something that last week started like a joke between the rapper and the DP today culminated into the long awaited meeting between the two. Rapper Jones through his official Instagram page nudged both the DP and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga for some intervention for millions of Kenyans suffering this pandemic period; what saw the DP respond heartily. He asked the Rapper to quickly make arrangements with fellow artists so that they could meet for some discussions.
“Bazuu Khaligraph, nimepata message yako bro. Ahsante. Mimi najua the pain of sleeping hungry. As a personal initiative, I am ready to help as we complement government programmes on the same. I will also mobilize my friends to get some more help,” Ruto responded.
And just after their five hour meeting today Saturday April 24, Ruto took to his Twitter platform with updates on how they had a robust discussion with the creative industry.
“In our meeting, we also discussed the possibility of coming up with a policy that will help weed out bureaucracy, brokers and impediments that slow the growth of the industry.
“We acknowledge that artists have worked hand in hand with the government and appreciate their proposal to assist in confronting the pandemic. We welcome their offer to reinforce the campaign on the observance of Covid-19 protocols and vaccination drive once it is rolled out fully.
“I offered to ensure that their recommendations and proposals are forwarded to the National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus,” Ruto assured.
Our sources told this desk that the two groups also agreed to arrange for another meeting in due course to reflect on any progress and impact to the society.
Popular figures in entertainment industry among them Radio presenter Jalang’o, comedian DJ Shiti, DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Pierra Makena, Kristoff, Willy Paul and Nonini were among those who attended the meeting.
