Ruto Tells Parliament to Stop Discussing his Security

Tuesday, August 31, 2021 -Deputy President William Ruto has asked Members of Parliament to stop discussing his security saying it is both a waste of time and resources which could help suffering Kenyans elsewhere.

Taking to his social media pages, Ruto on Tuesday August 31 said summons sent to Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai were not necessary since the new team of Administration Police AP assigned to him was enough and he had confidence in them.

He instead challenged the MPs to aim their guns at solving problems currently affecting the country including Covid-19 challenges and economy.

“Parliamentary time should not be wasted on non-issues. The AP is a professional security service and those who think it’s a downgrade are wrong.

“Parliament should instead focus on deployment to serious situations in areas where bandits are causing mayhem and destruction,” Ruto said.

Cabinet Secretary for Interior Dr. Fred Matiang’i was summoned to appear before the parliamentary committee tomorrow to shed more light on the changes made in Ruto’s security detail where GSU officers were dramatically pulled out and brought in APs who are now manning his Karen residence.
