Monday, May 17, 2021 -The looming fall of the Building Bridges Initiative has continued to excite Deputy President and his United Democratic Alliance UDA Party members.
Just days after a ruling by the High Court punched holes into the whole BBI agenda terming is unconstitutional, DP William Ruto on Sunday evening took his day three celebrations to Nyandarua County where he is also mounting campaign for support of their UDA candidate Francis Muraya Githaiga in the Rurii Ward race.
“Si mliona mambo Mungu alifanya jana. (I’m sure you all saw what God did yesterday),” Ruto stated through a direct phone call to UDA supporters in Nyandarua.
In response, the residents who were attending the event which Ruto addressed virtually shouted and celebrated as he shared greetings in their Kikuyu dialect.
“Habari ya Nyandarua, sasa mnajua Githaiga ni mtu wetu wa UDA, chama ya kazi ni kazi na mnaelewa wira ni wira. Nimeshukuru sana na ninamwombea huyo mungwana kura.
(How is Nyandarua? Githaiga is in the UDA party and I am requesting you to vote for him. He is in a party that believes in working for its people),” the DP rallied as the residents promised to support him.
This excitement has however rattled the Kieleweke team among them Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who has wondered why Ruto was very happy than ever.
“I find it very interesting that a Deputy President can find this much joy when a process that his boss – the president – has poured his heart and soul into, has been stopped. This is very telling,” MP Wambugu stated.
Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi, on his part, cautioned Ruto from too much celebrations since, either way the BBI goes, Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila would still give him political headache.
Uhuru and his handshake partner Mr. Odinga are already assembling their legal team to counter the five judge bench ruling against the BBI which was issued last Thursday May 13.
