Sunday, May 23, 2021 -Siaya Senator James Orengo has slammed a section of party colleagues whom he says they only seek for him when they are in trouble.
Being among the few seasoned politicians in the country, the Siaya Senator today reportedly faulted his colleagues in ODM Party who only think of him when they are facing legal challenges.
Orengo who is a key figure in any legal process facing the opposition, has been called by ODM Party leadership to lead the team which will be facing it out with those opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative BBI in the Court of Appeal
Speaking in a burial service of former East Alego MCA Joshua Osura in Alego Usonga subcounty on Sunday May 23, Senator Orengo revealed that whenever he is talking about an issue of national importance, some people ignore his counsel until they are stuck is when they start making phone calls asking about his whereabouts.
He added that quite a number of ODM leaders are riding high on the party’s success without thinking about how this came about.
“When the party is in turmoil everyone looks for me asking for my whereabouts, but during other days they undermine my capability,” said Orengo.
He recounted what happened in 2017 General election during the swearing in of Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park.
“I remember after 2017 General Election during the swearing in of Raila at Uhuru Park only a handful of us were at the forefront. I can only recall our ‘chief justice’ that day Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang. When we want people who are strong and can fight for the party they are nowhere to be seen,” he said.
The lawmaker then challenged his critics to deliver presidency for the ODM leader saying there is nomore room left for mistakes as far as 2022 succession politics are concerned.
“It does not matter what we all want now, our focus should be on the presidency… Ambitions can appear easy but getting what one wants is never earned even just fighting for devolution was not a walk in the park,” he added.
Orengo however asked all Kenyans to start preparing for a Referendum before the year ends anyway.
