Monday, August 23, 2021 -President Uhuru Kenyatta has almost come clean on what transpired between him and his Deputy William Ruto leading to a bitter fallout.
Attending to an interview on Citizen TV today Monday August 23, 2021, Kenyatta while responding to a question from Journalist Francis Gachuri about what could have caused the rift in the executive, simply said he also doesn’t understand what happened but explained that this started the moment he shook hands with Raila Odinga for unity reasons. He claimed that his coming together with the opposition team saw Ruto feel uncomfortable because of his personal and political ambitions.
“If the events of 2007 brought us together, what was the problem when I also replicate the same and bring our opposers on board too?.. what mistake did I do? My friend just didn’t want that to happen,” Uhuru noted.
He added that as a president he has no problem with Ruto campaigning anytime he wants since he has 2022 ambitions; however what he has the problem with is the manner in which this is being done. Among these are radicalizing youths as well as fighting the governmnet within.
In bare knuckle attack, he went ahead to dare Ruto to quit his deputy president’s position if he is not satisfied with the Jubilee administration.
The fallout between the two has since entered its fourth year as Ruto now prepares to vie for the top seat through a different party – United Democratic Alliance UDA which is currently on a recruitment spree.
